Information for Physicians

We offer a wide range of psychological services to Children, Adolescents and Adults, including Assessment, Treatment and Education.  Our psychologists can assist you in the comprehensive care of your patients by complementing medical treatment with psychotherapy and psycho-education.  With the consent of your patient, we will provide you with a timely consultation letter/report to inform you of your patient’s progress.

We utilize integrative, evidence-based approaches to address a variety of issues including:

Assessment

Comprehensive Psychological Assessment explores and evaluates social, emotional, personality and cognitive functioning to identify or diagnose psychological issues, develop a comprehensive understanding of the issue that is distressing an individual, and identify strategies or treatments that may lessen the distress.

A Psychoeducational Assessment identifies areas of strength and areas of need with respect to academic and cognitive functioning (e.g. Giftedness, Learning Disabilities).

A Psychovocational/Career Assessment evaluates intelligence, interests, aptitudes, personality and emotional functioning to identify new vocational directions.

Treatment

Individual Psychotherapy addresses various mental health issues and stressors.  Play therapy is utilized for young children and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy approaches are utlized for teenagers and adults.

Family Psychotherapy address relationship difficulties, communication skills, blended families, infidelity, attachment/bonding issues, parent/child conflict and adoption issues.

Group Psychotherapy is offered on a variety of topics including Mood, General Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Social Skills, Anger and Stress Management.  The groups are organized based on the ages and specific needs of the participants.

Education

Remedial Education is conducted on an individual basis to address specific areas of need (e.g. mathematics, reading and spelling) and includes ongoing monitoring and re-evaluation of skills to ensure adequate progress.

Cogmed Working Memory Training is an evidence-based approach to improve attention through computer game design and professional support by a psychologist.

Parenting Groups help parents understand their children and learn effective parenting approaches.

Educational Seminars are offered on a variety of topics throughout the year.
